What is Chiropractic Medicine?
Chiropractic Medicine has been around since D.D. Palmer founded its practice in the 1890’s. It is a field dedicated to looking at how well the brain is communicating with the rest of the body and all of its joints, organs, skin, and many parts, through the delicate network called your nervous system. The theory behind Chiropractic Medicine and how it works to heal many ailments of the body, is that if your brain is not able to communicate with every part of the body, that some of your organs, muscles and joints may not function optimally. This can be felt as symptoms such as fatigue, body aches, headaches, asthma, erectile dysfunction, constipation, digestion issues, etc. not to mention neck, upper back and lower back pain! Therefore, after taking a very detailed look at your current condition and your overall health (so they can take care of the whole you!), your Chiropractor will do very thorough neurological, orthopedic and chiropractic exams, designed to investigate the cause of your current ailment. Once the cause has been defined, your Chiropractor can tell you whether you can benefit from Complete Chiropractic Care, or if there are other tests, such as x-rays or blood work that need to be ordered to better understand your ailment.
Typically, most people (from infants to those into their 80’s) can benefit in some way from receiving chiropractic care. The most sought after reason to see a chiropractor is to decrease pain from low back and neck injuries. Though the benefits don’t stop there, not even close!
